This is about an old friend in jail, and his family in need.

To: [Chums]

Awhile back we heard about Water-Singing-On-The-Rocks getting popped, the bad dumb set-up pot bust in Virginia and concurrent raid on his family in Texas. Lots of hassles for them ever since. A couple months ago we shared news of his sentencing to a jail term of 28 months, and circulated ways to write and support these folks.

I just got heavy letter from Water
stirring in his strength bearing up under imprisonment by fools, jarring in the impacts of all this on this wife, kids, and life. Apparently a Texas prosecutor is trying to crank up the sentence because he won't turn over on other cannaboid humnanoids... and apparently his lawyer is screwing up (same as it ever was). Alisa gets migraines and is really struggling with young daughters Sarafina & Vauna Lee. And he asks: "Where are my friends?"

That was then, this is now... I wrote him, sent a few bucks, then got busy, probably like others. The truth is, that's not enough.

These friends need our help - a few letters, a little money.

This is the nuts & guts of the drug war, what it does to good folks & families, the separation, privation, and subjugation to the dumbest barbarians with badges.

** On supporting Water in jail, this from Alisa on 6/21/04:

I am passing on his address and I know he would appreciate hearing from each of you. There are some rules: Cards, postcards, and letters on standard size paper; Blue or blk ink, pencil or colored pencils; photo's no larger than 6x6 (NO POLARIODS); Money orders comlpetely filled out will be added to his canteen; and envelopes must have return address.

Thanks for caring,

Alisa [[ "Alisa" ]]

** On helping his family in Texas, this from Me Now:

Kind donations are welcome, send direct ASAP:

Reality Check... 1-time gifts are great, but these people need some supplemental income, sustained for a couple of years. Any of us can forego some bubblegum to kick down $5-$10 a month, and if enough of us do this, it adds up.

Thanks... in Rainbow Spirit...

To this end, I'm setting up the "Wet Bubblegum Fund" as a means of advancing steady help to these folks. Contact me personally if you would like to take part... will work out the best plan, and show what this Family is all about. RSVP.
