With cleanup in-progress at the Gathering site in Oregon, a report came in yesterday that the LEO’s confiscated ‘all the water pipe’, or at least a lot of it. More precise facts will follow.
This may be retribution for the “unauthorized” event — because no one would sign their newfangled “Design Criteria” contract with new terms & conditions, and vague ‘group’ entanglements.
So in the seeming logic of USFS & LEI honchos — they can backpedal on Operating Plans, the emergent solution to the ‘Group Use’ permit dilemma, crank up new enforcement traps, and then steal our gear in punishment because nobody bought into their bad deal.
As for the water pipe… I thought we settled this in the DeMars defense in So. Dakota::: Don’t mess with First Amendment Infrastructure, our means of protecting the health and safety of gatherings. This is a serious escalation, showing a willingness to inflict public harm and impede speech.
As Bugs Bunny used to say: “Of course ya know, Dis means War.”
